Ugh

Pat Robertson--always reliable for inappropriate, stupid responses to natural disasters.

Theology(not very good theology, BTW) divorced from compassion makes people say inhuman things.

I wonder if Pat happened to be in a horrible car accident and lost his legs, or had a house fall on him from a tornado sweeping by, if he would be so quick to assume that it was because God was mad at him and punishing him.

Where is that spontaneous bolt of lightning from heaven when it's needed?

People like him give the faith a bad name. Of course, so do people like me...we all do. But PR's remarks were vile, and bad theology to boot.

I spent about an hour and a half last night writing a blog post about Pat Robertson's comments about Haiti and how I viewed them as damaging to Christianity.

After repeated revisions and reviews, I ended up having to move the whole post to my 'blog trashcan' because I just couldn't figure a way to say what I wanted to and still reflect the love of Christ.

I heard some preacher on my local radio station comment that Pat Robertson's comments were "a combination of bad theology and arrogance."

I think I'll just leave it at that. Your title of "Ugh" is also a very appropriate way of describing the whole thing as well.

I think Robertson would be a non-factor if his enemies didn't keep going to him for quotes whenever there is a tragedy. Other than the nationally-spread stupid quotes, I don't think I have heard a thing about Robertson in 20 years.

An Aussie view, BTW: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/opinion/blaming-climate-is-absolute-gibberish/story-e6frezz0-1225820575047
