I dunno. But I would hope that he would rediscover God through the love of his friends. We love because He first loved us. Any kindness we show others is just a matter of sharing the love showered upon us by God. Like kids sharing their cookies at school lunch. They came from home...
What brought me back to God was the lovingkindness of evangelical Christians, who befriended me, loved me, encouraged me during dark and lonely times in my life.
I read this a few days ago and it struck me. It sounds so modern to my ears....a man with doubts and complaints about God, deep in despair, and abandoned by his friends.
It really makes a stark contrast against much of the Old Testament, and against Job's friends, to expect allegiance to people who have actively "forsaken the fear of the Almighty".
